On September 28, 2021, the National Association of Public Librarians and Libraries in Romania (ANBPR) and the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest (UPB) coordinated the launch event of the first robotics club under the umbrela of NITRO Clubs EU project in Romania within the Bucharest Metropolitan Library – „Ion Creangă” Branch.
The opening of this robotics club was made in the presence of ANBPR officials, UPB representatives, librarians from the “Ion Creanga” Branch within the Bucharest Metropolitan Library and users of library services interested in STEAM.
“The Robotics Club within the Bucharest Metropolitan Library -“Ion Creangă” Branch is part of the activities series coordinated by ANBPR and UPB, the two Romanian partners present in the NITRO Clubs EU project consortium. This is an educational approach meant to support the involvement of young people in activities dedicated to robotics that will lead to the acquisition of topical STEAM skills. We thus support vocational education, offering young people in Romania the opportunity to practice their software and hardware skills and knowledge in a useful and creative way. Thanks to the resources created within the project, the students in Romania will have access to quality infrastructure, complex educational resources and the necessary guidance to be competitive on the labor market and to successfully practice the jobs of the future, governed by technology”, said Ioana Crihană, Executive Director of ANBPR.
